Buying a Great Value Shirt
Over the past few months, we're recieved a lot of emails about the lack of decent shirts - business shirts in particular - this season. It's so difficult nowdays to find a good mens business shirt at the right price. The key is finding something different, something that stands out and something that represents your personality - without looking too outlandish.
There are a number of things that you need to look out for when purchasing a shirt - whether it's a formal shirt or not - to ensure that you are getting true value for your money, and not just a cheap shirt.
If possible, you need to find a mens shirt where the button holes on the shirt look as if they have been stitched by hand Inspect all the stitching and seams. The stitching on the shirt should be tight, and you're also looking for a shirt with one row of stitching. However two rows is OK - as long as the stitches are not freying or falling out. To get good value, you need a shirt that will last. While you're at it, check out the ply count. Two ply is indicates higher quality and will last longer.
Also, you've got to make sure of a good fit - make sure that the cuffs of the shirt don't ride up at the wrists, or flop over your hand, and ensure that the shirt does not stretch unflatteringly across your chest and stomach.
